It's that time of year where the Art World seems to be highlighting hot new talent from all the graduate shows right now, including our little lot studying the Portrait Diploma at Heatherley's School of Fine Art in Chelsea, London.
I feel like that scene in Wallace & Gromit, where Gromit is frantically laying the tracks as his runaway train speeds across the house after a penguin! Time has literally flown since starting Art School in September 2022, and it's only now I'm able to reflect and realise how much has been created, at the same time how much emotion and personal life-changing challenges have come my way. If it wasn't for Heatherley's, my family, friends and my incredible healer Wendy, I'm not sure I would have made it. At times it was seriously rough and breaking point was close, as it has been for so many of us.
But what doesn't break us, makes us stronger, and I can now look at my work and feel incredibly proud at how far we have all come. I'm also in awe of all the amazing artists we were privileged to have tutoring us on our course. Thank you to Minna Stevens, Tony Mott, Chris Mook, Hilary Daltry, Ian Rowland', Laura Smith, Kate Hopkins, Tim Benson, Daniel Shadbolt, Sarah Jane Moon, Alan Ramsay, Alexanda Duncan and David Stubbs... their talent is definitely up there as the best in British Art, we were so lucky to have them
So after a lot of painting of walls and floors, and learning how to hang an exhibition, (too much maths for my liking if I'm honest), Heatherley's is now looking incredibly smart and opening their doors for you to visit and view all our work across all Post Graduate and Graduate Portrait and Sculpture Diplomas. Who knows, it may inspire you to join us one day on a short art course or even apply for the 2 year Diploma.
